SiteLeader Academy

SiteLeader Academy is a leadership program designed to teach and empower existing and up and coming field trade supervisors in the ability to lead others. The old way of promoting trade team members because they are “good at the trade” is outdated and unhealthy to a caring organization. In other words, success in a trade role does not equal success in leading others and being good at your job does not necessarily mean that you are equipped to lead people. Surveys have proven that the latest generation coming into the workforce is looking for a good working relationship with their coworkers, managers and leaders within their organization. SiteLeader Academy will equip those you have designated as field leaders with the skills needed to thoughtfully care for those reporting to them with six two-hour group training sessions and six two-hour 1×1 coaching sessions with each participant.

Module 1 - Know Yourself

Before anyone can begin to equip themselves as a leader, they must make an attempt to understand themselves as a person. Studies have shown that the majority of us believe we are self-aware but the majority of us are actually not self-aware. Self-awareness is the ability to understand ourselves and others.

During this module participants will:

Take a DiSC/Driving Forces Assessment with a full debrief

Learn their characteristics and communication styles

Learn tips on how to use their assessments to better understand themselves and their behaviors

Module 2 - Know Others

Continuing the topic of self-awareness, it is important to develop the ability to understand other personality traits. Most importantly, leaders must learn the art of communicating with various personalities.

During this module participants will:

Review the communication styles of other personalities and how to give performance feedback

Practice communicating with other personality styles

Learn tips on how to use other’s assessments to better understand them and their behaviors

Module 3 - Humility

Leaders must stay humble by making things more about others and less about themselves. When leading a team, it is easy to lose sight of this important trait, however, it will come naturally after consistant practice.

During this module participants will:

Learn the importance and art of using “We” instead of “I”

Discuss the heart of staying humble

Learn how to check in on themselves in the area of humbleness

Module 4 - Curiosity

Curiosity is defined as “a strong desire to know or learn something”. Showing curiosity and a genuine interest in those that we are leading is important and helps build a working relationship.

During this module participants will:

Learn the importance of being not just ‘politely interested’, but being genuinely curious

Discuss techniques for showing curiosity towards others

Module 5 - Empathy

Leaders must have the ability to understand the needs of others and be aware of other’s feelings. Showing empathy to those around you is the key to building trust in relationships.

During this module participants will:

Discuss the affects of showing empathy as a leader

Discuss how to give performance reviews and hold employees accountable by asking the “why”

Learn the characteristics of someone who is empathetic

Module 6 - Adaptability

Adaptability is essential for a leader in a world that is constantly changing. Currently, we have four very different generations occupying the workforce. We may need to adjust our leadership styles for interactions with each generation.

During this module participants will:

Learn techniques for adapting to different personalities and situations

Discuss leadership techniques for leading during a disaster

Discuss examples of different situations that raise leadership challenges
